ET DU TAPISSIER

The House

In the historic heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, this late 18th-century bourgeois house offers guests a rare experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to this house, where the story of a father who was a upholsterer and his architect friend unfolded, and which has now been renovated by their respective sons. Located between Place Charles Aznavour and the famous Estrine Museum, it offers the comfort and discreet charm of a five-star house.
4 suites • 360° Rooftop • Heated pool

Stones steeped in history

The craftsmen of Saint-Rémy have put all their heart into working with the region’s finest materials and preserving the typical Provencal charm of the Maison de l’Architecte et du Tapissier to make it sublime.

The front of the house on the Rue Jaume Roux side has been restored to its original condition. The extension to the rear of the private house offers a definitively contemporary touch, with beautiful openings onto the museum.

The refined, elegant decor is the result of a selection of rare pieces by architects, designers and painters. The carefully considered lighting awakens this sleeping beauty, whose stones are steeped in history.

A refined ambiance

The sublime front door with its engraved Maltese crosses, photographed so many times every day, opens onto the living room and dining room on the ground floor.

These first rooms plunge you into a refined, colorful ambience, where time blends together and doesn’t count. Even the clock no longer has a mechanism. Time no longer passes, because it belongs to you.

A grand staircase

You’ll be delighted to discover the grand, central staircase. It connects the three floors to the three terraces, also accessible by elevator.

At the foot of the staircase, the piano is a nod to the passion of the doctor who occupied the premises for 40 years, and will let out a few notes of good humor, bewitching or frenzied. At the top, light floods in through numerous bay windows.

A sleek design

An almost hidden doorway catches your eye, or perhaps your footsteps lead you to another surprise. The kitchen, with its contemporary purity, stretches the length of its Beaucaire stone floor, along stone walls and an ancient vaulted ceiling. Perfectly equipped, it welcomes the joyful paintings of a flamboyant painter, and opens its doors onto the marvellous 18th-century front of the Musée Estrine, a Mecca of Provencal painting.

The finest signatures

The first and second floors are each home to two differently styled bedrooms, adorned with furniture and objects from the finest names in architecture and design.

Whether separate or not, the bathrooms, with their terracotta tiles or mosaics, delight the eye at every glance. Generous baths or showers, including two with hammam, await you.

The bedding and household linen have nothing to envy from the palaces to sweeten your nights.

A unique location

One more floor and you’re over the roof. The dining terrace conceals a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen and is the perfect place for 14 people to gather around a table, while another features a heated pool and a solarium facing the Musée Estrine and its bar. All of which make the Maison de l’Architecte et du Tapissier a unique place in the village.

Finally, at the top of the staircase, another panoramic terrace with generous sofas offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Alpilles to the south, the Lubéron to the east, Mont Ventoux to the north and the Montagnette to the west. It’s the ideal setting for admiring the sunset, then enjoying the cool evening air around the brazier in the starlit night.

Tailor-made service

For a week in Provence or a short break, this private home, just a stone’s throw from the town hall and church, will be perfect for being on time for the wedding of your friends or children. Dinners on the roof terrace can accommodate up to 14 seated guests, or 40 for a cocktail reception.

With total comfort in mind, we provide every amenity and a personalized welcome. Every guest is looked after with care: transportation from the TGV station, airport or daily, daily or one-off home chef, cultural ticketing and guided tours, or a plethora of leisure activities – yoga, pilates, massages, horse riding, electric bike rides, gliding… – everything can be organized in advance of your stay so that you think of nothing else but relaxing and enjoying the charms of Provence.
